About This Puppy

This is the hardest advert we have ever had to make as a family, but unfortunately we are looking for a forever home for our beloved Hugo.

Hugo is a 5 a half month Bocker (Beagle x Cocker Spaniel) and is the friendliest, happiest little boy. He is still very much a puppy and, like any puppy, needs continued training, patience and consistency. He can sit, lie down, roll over and stay for a short period, and we are continuing to work on all of these things.

He is the loveliest but craziest little boy, and you would honestly think he is running on Duracell batteries! He has so much energy and personality and is an absolute joy.

Hugo currently lives with our 2-and-a-half-year-old Cockador. Unfortunately, there have been some concerns between the two dogs which have left us with no choice but to look for a new home for Hugo. I am more than happy to explain the situation fully to the right family. This is in no way a reflection on Hugo, and the concerns are entirely related to the older dog. Hugo is incredibly friendly and, quite honestly, doesn't seem to understand the word "no" when it comes to her.

Hugo did experience some separation anxiety when he was initially left without the older dog, but he has done well since they have been left together. He currently sleeps in the bed with me, although I am sure the right owner could work on this if it isn't something they want long-term. He is not crate trained.

He attends doggy day care once a week and has got on brilliantly with every dog there with no issues at all. He also attends puppy socialisation classes every Saturday, which he absolutely loves.

His recall has always been worked on alongside our older dog, so I cannot say with certainty what his recall will be like without her. He is very much a typical Beagle in that when he is on the floor and following his nose, he can have a mind of his own!

We will not be rehoming Hugo to just anybody. Our priority is finding him the right forever home where he can continue to thrive. Ideally, we would like him to go to someone with previous Beagle or Bocker experience who understands the breed traits, energy levels and training requirements.

A home check may be required, and we would be happy to have conversations with potential families to make sure Hugo is the right fit for them and, most importantly, that they are the right fit for him.

This decision has broken our hearts because Hugo really is the most wonderful little pup, and we love him dearly. We are doing this because we want what is best for him and want to find him a loving, committed forever home where he can be happy and continue to grow into the fantastic dog we know he will be.

Serious enquiries only, please. We are happy to answer any questions and provide further information to the right family.

Beagle Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Beagle.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy without you viewing it first
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Beagle Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website
  • Seller asks you to send money to a bank account with a different name to the person you have been communicating with
  • The dog/puppy is advertised significantly cheaper than similar listings

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
