About This Dog
Meet Cody — A Loving, Sensitive 3-Year-Old Beagle Looking for a Calm, Understanding HomeCody is a sweet, clever, and affectionate tricolour Beagle who thrives on routine, reassurance, and companionship. He enjoys playtime, sofa cuddles, and exploring the outdoors — but he also needs a patient, confident owner who can help him rebuild his confidence around other dogs.
Reason for Rehoming
Cody has become more anxious and reactive around some dogs over the last 12–18 months, following a few negative experiences. This has made walks difficult for his female owner and children, although he remains much more relaxed when walked by the male owner.
With the male owner now working full-time in another city, the family can no longer provide Cody with the time, structure, and support he needs to continue improving. They love him very much and want him to have a home where his confidence can grow again.
Location: Scotland
Personality
Cody is:
Very affectionate and loves tummy rubs
Playful and enjoys his Kong and soft toys (when allowed!)
A real sofa snuggler
Intelligent and eager to please
Happiest with calm, confident leadership
He can be a little anxious at times, especially around unfamiliar dogs, and needs reassurance and stability from his future family.

Lead walking: Walks on a halti-style head collar; can pull and bark when nervous.
Training: Completed online training with The Beagle Lady.
Housetrained: Excellent.
Crate trained: Yes — sleeps in his crate or free in the living room.
Left alone: Can manage 3–4 hours.
Recall: Very poor — must not be let off lead except in a secure field.
Resource guarding: Can guard chews/toys if removed abruptly — responds well to swaps.
Destructive habits: May steal soft toys and occasionally digs.

But can bark, growl, and raise hackles when he feels unsure
Needs careful introductions and a confident handler
Has previously lived well with another Beagle for 2.5 years
People:
No aggression toward people
Friendly and affectionate
Cats:

Travel
Travels very well in his car crate.

Sleeps in his crate or loose in the living room — both suit him fine.
Ideal Home for Cody
Cody will thrive in a home with:
A confident, calm, dog-savvy owner
Someone willing to continue building his confidence around other dogs
No pressure from long on-lead, dog-heavy walks until he is ready
A secure garden
Possibly a calm, steady dog companion — depending on compatibility
He would be best in a home with people who understand Beagles or similar breeds and can give him consistent structure and reassurance.
In Summary
Cody is a loving, bright, and loyal young Beagle who just needs time, patience, and gentle guidance to regain the confidence he once had. He has so much love to give and will make a wonderful companion for the right family.
